Tall and handsome bay Arabian gelding! Rio is an extremely athletic and talented horse. He already shows great endurance and strength out on the trails with his natural sure-footed ground covering gaits. He finished the 2006 endurance season with 115 LD miles with his last ride of the season successfully completing a 50 miler at the Grand Canyon XP carrying a heavyweight rider for the first time ever. I brought him along very slowly to teach him to pace himself and stay in complete control. On two of the LD’s I went too slow and we were overtime. Rio had plenty of energy and it was my fault for not coming in on time. For the 2007 season, Rio currently has 370 miles with 100% completion. I'm planning on taking him to Bryce Canyon XP and doing 3 days on him. I seems to be getting stronger at each ride and always has all A's and great CRI's.
Rio has a sweet, curious personality; he adores being handled and likes to work. He has extensive training both in hand and under saddle. He is respectful of your personal space and easy to handle. Rio is very good at pacing himself and is easy to rate his speed and keep him there. He is light and supple in the bridle/bosal and responsive to both verbal commands and leg/seat cues. He got all A’s throughout both days at the Renegade ride. He absolutely loves the trail and is willing to step right out there and take the lead. He is being conditioned in the high mountains over very rough terrain and is routinely used to drive cows throughout the National Forest.
Absolutely fantastic bloodlines, he is a CG Balih El Jamaal son by Ali Jamaal out of a *Bask daughter and *Serafix granddaughter, and was an embryo transplant. He was carefully bred by Lucy Whittier of Las Colinas Arabians. No expense was spared to produce this fabulous horse. I have no doubt that Rio will become a top 10 horse or FEI caliber. He has the talent, strength, build and attitude to be a winner. Rio is available only to experienced riders, he is not a horse for a beginner or youth.
